 About Kathy Patterson, FNP

Born and raised in Connecticut, I did my undergraduate training as a nurse at UConn, and later moved to North Carolina in December, 1997, with my husband. While working at Duke Hospital as a staff nurse, I earned my Master’s Degree at Duke University in 2002.

I joined Dr. Bret Williams at the facility in January, 2003, when it was owned and run by Alamance Regional Medical Center, Inc.

As the practice circumstances changed and Dr. Williams announced his pending retiremen due to health circumstance in Fall, 2006, the practice was going to be closed down by the administration of the remote hospital. Knowing that this rural community really needed us, I entered negotions and thereafter purchased the practice on March 30th, 2007.

Why? I truly enjoy the relationships with my patients in Yanceyville and have grown attached and dedicated to them. I feel strongly that everyone deserves a private healthcare option in the county.

On a personal note, my husband and I don’t have any children, but have many four-legged ‘kids.” We raise miniature dairy goats and have mini donkeys as pets. In my spare time, I make goat milk soaps. We also have several adopted English Springer Spaniels, our favorite breed of dogs.

After 5 years of practice in the county, I decided to move here from northern Orange County. I have fallen in love with the community and wanted to move here permanently. We built a new home and farm and move to Prospect Hill in April, 2008.

I’m truly dedicated to the patients here and want to provide quality care to each person, treating each as if he/she were family or friend. As a patient you’ll probably notice that I explain the choices that you have as we develop a treatment plan together. You’ll find me open-minded to your options and opinions too because I learn from my patients— you— every day. I am very lucky to have found a career that I love every day and I’m honored to continue to serve Caswell county, southern Virginia, and the surrounding areas.
